Hauser I Guitar-Lute 1925
for sale

Herman Hauser I, before concentrating on building guitars exclusively in the Spanish style, built other plucked instruments as well, and - as this extremely rare example shows - at the very highest level, too.
The guitar-lute was an instrument very much in fashion in the early twentieth century, and this one not only exhibits the quality standards in regard to material and craftsmanship one would expect from Hauser, but also an execeptionally tasteful design that I do not find present to this extent in his later works. The form language is Art Nouveau and the elegance of the curves in this guitar-lute surpasses any other of the many I have seen.

The owner of this highly collectable masterpiece decided to offer it as it is, with the option of restoration. Fully restored, this instrument would certainly be a highlight in any assertive collection.
